The ‘Nomad Dance’ format is an initiative of the choreographer Beatrice Tudor that began in 2019 (initially under the name ‘StartDans’, continuing in 2020 under the name ‘Nomad Dance’) and which has so far taken place in Lugoj, Jimbolia, Cărpiniș, Dumbrăvița, and Timișoara (2022 and 2023), Deva, Reșița, Lugoj (2020) and Târgoviște, Slobozia, Buftea, Giurgiu (2019). Since 2022, the project has been part of the Timișoara European Capital of Culture 2023 programme, and this spring it was nominated at the Radio România Cultural Awards Gala.
The shows proposed are created in real time by the five artists according to the real time composition method, using various techniques of contemporary dance and theatrical means. They have as living sources of inspiration: the architecture and specific character of the performance spaces, the sound–body relation, and the performer–audience relation.
Through these performances, ‘NomadDance’ seeks to contribute to the increasing visibility of contemporary dance and to the formation of a new public among the communities of Piatra Neamț, Târgu Neamț, and Roman.
