In the late 1980s, before the workers have started their first shift, an unidentified man sets fire to a slogan in front of the National Exhibition at the Casa Scânteii printing house in Bucharest. The incident is the starting point for a production that, under the pretext of the investigation carried out by the Militia (police) and the Securitate, uncovers a world whose people are in agony to the point that they can at any time become one another’s enemies or caricatures of themselves. It highlights the absurdity of life under late communism, but also the paranoid crisis characteristic of Securitate files, through the story of a little known hero of the anti-communist resistance.
