The Masca Theatre’s happening with living statues offers the audience the opportunity to step into the gallery of some of the most remarkable Romanian personalities of the Belle Époque and the interwar period, to discover their stories, which made them unique when they were alive and part of the immaterial heritage of our times. The production is divided into two suggestively named episodes (‘bronze’ for personalities from the natural sciences or other ‘hard’ fields, and ‘porcelain’ for figures artistic by nature or profession), and not only offers a welcome dose of escape into other times, but more importantly encourages (re)identification with the new values that give direction to authentic personal progress and the common good.
