Skilfully referencing a trick in American Beauty (where Kevin Spacey’s character announces that he is going to die before the end of the week), this production records the ‘remains of the day’, in other words, all that consumes us and all that we consume: work, money, free time, but also voyeurism, boredom, and anguish. The protagonist’s reflections have the value of a diagnostic for which there is no treatment scheme other than determination (to survive). Distractions and divagations, diversions and idols—an hour of performance as dense as a day in a so-called ordinary life.
