Loss, growing up, holiday romance, tragic echoes, faits divers, frivolities, retro music, and (im)possible desires give a charge of melancholy and exuberance to a Proustian production with stories that take place at the seaside. A state of complicity becomes established among the characters, which will endure among the bathing huts, in the conscience of the worldly-wise barmaid, in the playlist of the outdated radio station—only to be revived the following summer, with different people and the same stories, or vice versa. A play of escapes: from the present, from society, from second-hand masks, from forms become routine and opposed to freedom, whether it is hoped for or as yet unknown.
