This production tackles the inequities of Western society, which are eroding the social fabric more and more. Indeed, the title recalls Hans Christian Andersen’s famous story ‘The Little Match Girl’, as a metaphor of injustice. Elena is a care worker from the East who is just about to meet her new client. Everything seems to be as normal, and indeed the signs look better than usual, but things get tricky in an unexpected way. The script written by Zdrava Kamenova and Gergana Dimitrova, for this eighth production on which they have worked together, has the tension and structure of a detective novel.
A performance in Bulgarian and German, with subtitles in Romanian and English.
