HA*L*T is a reflection on loss, within the frame of the story of a production that did not take place. HA*L*T should have been HAMLET, a premiere scheduled in April 2022 in a theatre in Kiev. The war that broke out on 24 February cut the circuits of life. HA*L*T was born bearing the wounds of conflict, being a production based on the documentation of the lives of the artists rehearsing for HAMLET carried out by Tamara Trunova, Maryna Smilianets, and six actors in the cast. The missing letters in the title make the word me (= ‘me’), a sign of the tearing apart of the person in a time in which the reality of war cancels humanity.

A theatrical production may be a way of bringing order to a world pulverized by the irrational, offering both artists and audience the energy to carry on.

A performance in Ukrainian, with subtitles in Romanian and English.
