Alexandru Roșu (18 years old) – recorded monologue
here. melancholy is the record of the sensations and memories of a twenty-first century city. a stone. a stone that starts to communicate directly with the few people left inside the city. a dystopic stick with the help of which we shall discover at a certain point how the cities of this century, in this part of the world, were erected, experienced, and blamed. a city as a whole. a city continually modified by history and society. an object in the midst of chaos, which protects the hope of regeneration.
This is the first production in the project UNLOCK THE CITY!, financed through the Creative Europe 2021–2027 programme, developed by an international network of theatres, academies, and universities, which creates a context for reflection on the way in which the performing arts, in association with scholarly research, can contribute to a rethinking of the landscape of post-pandemic cities.
