This is a production about what is happening right now, about how it all began, and about the people who are separated by war. It is evidence documented through the letters that friends in Ukraine and Russia send to each other every day. The author of the idea is the actress and director Julia Aug, and her correspondence with friends in the shelters of the various cities of Ukraine forms the basis of the script. It is not just a theatrical production, but a living chronicle of the present in the war zone.
Vaba Lava is a production house and laboratory of experiment and innovation that runs a network of similar theatres in other countries. Artistic decisions are taken by an international curator, who assigns a theme and proposes a programme for two years. At present, the curator is Harald Rosenstrom from Norway.
