Starting from interviews and documentary materials, this production offers multiple perspectives on the last days in the life of Mihaela Runceanu, one of the most popular artists of communist Romania. Even today, her tragic end is veiled in mystery and conspiracy theories. The audience are invited to construct their own versions of how the events unfolded. Mihaela Runceanu’s hits, which punctuate the whole production, are the space of the artist’s freedom in the most oppressive period of Romanian communist society.

Founded in 2016, Teatrul Apollo 111 is an independent space for the performing arts in Bucharest that supports young artists and contemporary dramaturgy, offering productions on uncomfortable themes. Each of its seasons so far has been imprinted with the vision of a different artistic director.
