143 years ago, a trial on a scale never before seen in the history of the Romanian Lands took place in the northern Moldavian market town of Darabani. The two parties involved were the Jews and the Romanians living in the town. The historical document used as a script for this the need always to find a scapegoat can be manipulated. The history of the last hundred years production, the minute of the trial, is a testimony to how intolerance, poverty, ignorance, and teaches us that such interethnic conflicts may presage and in time generate tragedies on a massive scale.

„Texte bune în locuri nebune“ (“Good texts in crazy places”) is a theatre project unique in the cultural world of Cluj-Napoca, initiated out of the desire to try out new forms of expression through the dramatic exploration of texts that were not originally written for the stage. At the same time, it is part of the aim of the experiment that the staging of these texts should take place in unconventional spaces in Cluj-Napoca and elsewhere in Romania.

The director Ionuț Caras is invited to TT Talks, Saturday, 4 September, 10:00 AM, at the Museum of Art.
